Quality of life
I think it’s in the toilet
The one I can’t access anymore.

Thank You

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Kudos to Central Hudson Gas & Electric. They restored our power in less than ten hours today. Less than twelve hours Wednesday. These outages were nasty! Wires dancing with sparks across ice-covered roads, trees bowing down in everyone’s way, snow that just would not quit! Good job you men and women of the power companies, braving freezing cold, impassable roads, and fire-spitting live wires! You are heroes! Big hugs to you all!

Thank you Starbucks for the warm soy latte that Lindsay put in my feeding tube today. Thank you Lindsay! Tubed coffee gets me really high! Thanks Lew for going out for coffee.

Paralyzed

Friday, December 12th, 2008

It rained all day yesterday, all night last night, and continues this morning. Several schools are on delay. We kept Aiden home. Don’t know if it’s icy yet. The basement is flooding again. I can’t do a thing about it. Lew left at 8. Rosa won’t be here until 12:15. Aiden will need to use the potty, have his diaper changed before then. I can’t do a thing about it.

Tag! I’m it!

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Took my little man to the park on Friday and we played tag! He won!

You should have heard his giggles as he chased me around the outfield! I don’t know if he was laughing out of joy, or because I looked so funny trying to run… I felt like a giant bird with long stick legs, lifting and trying to stride as far as I could with each step… like a stork… the way they take those slow deliberate and big steps as they wade thru water. That’s what I felt like… a stork wading thru water. I was laughing at myself a lot too. Silly mama stork and her tickley gigglish boy.

Rosa took the photo with my cell phone.

buzzed is BEAUTIFUL!

and oh so liberating! I’ll never be a slave to hair again!

A couple of weeks ago I bought clippers, attached a number 6 comb, and told Lew to TAKE IT OFF! It was so easy! He never cut hair before. I feel clean, light, and HAPPY! Showers are so much easier now! I can’t get arms to top of head… so I bring my head down to my arms. Yep, I bend at the waist and let my head hang low. One hand is on grab bar while the other kinda lamely swirls the shampoo around my upside-down head. LOL! My hair was thick before… couldn’t get my scalp clean no matter what I tried. I’m thinking of mounting a hair scrubber right on the shower wall… I can plop some shampoo on my head, then just rub my scalp against the scrubber… the way my cat rubs her head on my leg! Purrrrrrr!!!

Freedom is BEAUTIFUL!

Wintry Mix

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

I just know that no matter how much I plead with Lew to stay off the roads tomorrow, he will feel obligated to go to work, no matter how bad the conditions are. I used to be that way back in the days when I worked in printing. Printers offer little in the way of sick, personal, or vacation time, and they expect full attendance from employees no matter what the weather… unless, of course, you are a sales person.

Severe Weather

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

Aiden and I will be at the window all day tomorrow. Finally, our first big snow of the season is on it’s way. Hopefully, if the temperature rises some after all the snow has blanketed our yard, Aiden will get a ride on his inflatable sled. He loved that sled last winter. Kevin and Lew both went shopping and stocked us up tonight. Lew just chopped more wood and is covering it with a tarp. He’s going to stock the fireplace tonight. Valentines day will be romantic with all the cold snow outside and my boys inside all toasty and warm by the fire with me.

The Healing Sun

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

The chaise lounge is parked in the center of the backyard today,
aimed perfectly at the sun.
Reclined with my floppy black hat shading my eyes,
I continue my journey through Margaret Atwood’s Cats Eye.
I love Margaret Atwood
and this is my treat today.
The sun has that penetrating quality
that my body surrenders to and draws completely in.
The rays thread divinely through my flesh,
parting molecules, cleansing cells
until the mass of body is unmassed.
Cells disperse from clumps and dance freely now,
energized and re-enabled
with the healing sun reaching through me,
into Earth.

My Big Man

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

My big man is not perfect
and neither am I.
We’ve had some rough spots,
but who hasn’t?
We made it through
and we’re fine the way we are.
I’m fine with him,
and he’s fine with me.

My big man builds cozy fires for me.
He brings me food… whatever I like.
My big man rubs my feet and ankles
even when he’s tired or hungry,
or has a million other things to do.
My big man goes to work five days a week,
he does the shopping,
and runs errands for me,
then he comes home and takes the baby,
relieving me.

My big man loves our baby as much as I do,
and that’s the most!
My big man is the best daddy
EVER EVER EVER!

My big man makes sure I have the best organic coffee everyday.
He brings me vegan sweet treats from the stores.
My big man is humble
and he truly does these things for me,
not for the thanks he’ll get.
Humble and true…
that’s my big man.

Lunch

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

Organic Sunshine burger on Rudy’s Colorado Cracked Wheat with sliced tomato and lots of Veganaise, whole wheat cous cous with chopped tomato and a splash of canola oil, a big tall glass of spring water with a half refill. Life is good!
